OCT 03 - LIVE @ VOIDSTAR PRODUCTIONS 25 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, Boston MA
Aftermath in Toronto went off great...minus a few technical dificulties. Check this great writeup HERE.
The duo of Kassi Cork and Max Glascott, collectively known as MEND, certainly knows how to make an entrance; after several sporadic track releases over the last three years, and the unfortunate theft of what was to be MEND's 2011 release, Vanishing Point marks the band's debut full-length album. Serene, lush, cosmic, tense, and anxious are all words to describe the atmospheres evoked by the debut album from this impressive Chicago duo.

I've found that Vanishing Point often ends up feeling longer than its forty minute run-time, though it certainly never overstays its welcome. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd guess that the funhouse world Cork and Glascott concoct feels so much of their own construction, so willing to revel in its own sense of kooky joie de vivre, that its motifs gain a sort of hypnagogic deja vu: MEND know who they are so well that, by association, the listener (new or comparatively old) is lulled into that same familiarity.
MEND is an electronic duo from Chicago, the partnership between highschool pals Kassi Cork, pianist / composer and Max Glascott, technological impresario, DJ and experimental noisemaker. Showcasing an impressive stylistic range, influences range from hip-hop to industrial with nods to dub-step, acid, electro, classical and beyond.
